Entity maps before venue lists

Teams sometimes arrive with meticulous venue lists and vague entity maps. They know every exchange login and almost nothing about which company, trust, or personal name should own each balance for reporting purposes.

Reconciliation cannot invent ownership. If two brothers share informal access to a wallet, the holdings pack will either misassign the balance or leave it flagged. Both outcomes are preferable to inventing a tidy story, but only a clear entity map prevents the debate from repeating every quarter.

Before a DataProcessr Consolidated Holdings Reporting cycle, sit with counsel or your existing wealth advisors and write the entity list your office already uses for traditional assets. Then attach digital venues to those entities. Crypto Portfolio Desktop inventory fields should mirror that map, not invent a parallel taxonomy.

Offices that reverse this order — venues first, entities later — spend reporting fees on classification arguments that belong in a governance meeting, not a reconciliation desk.
